Penobscot School, 28 Gay St., is offering a new French course taught by Appleton artist Elisabeth Goodridge that focuses on the life and works of poet and singer/songwriter Georges Brassens. It will meet seven consecutive Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning March 30.

Colloque sur l’oeuvre de Georges Brassens will be held in roundtable discussion format and is for advanced levels. The tuition of $135 includes a CD of songs and 1.0 CEU for teachers. For more information, call 594-1084 or visit

Goodridge, who holds a Master of Arts in French from the University of Maine at Orono, also studied at the Sorbonne. She has taught French for more than 40 years, in Maine and Montreal. She loves acting, choral singing and sailing and also writes theater reviews of local productions. She answers her telephone in French, and raises an old-world style garden of flowers and herbs on her small farm in Appleton.
