The Maine Stone Workers Guild is seeking applicants to exhibit work at “Sitting Pretty: an exhibition at Sharp’s Point South.” The juried exhibition, which is open to all media that can be displayed outdoors, will take place on a gently rolling, grassy campus on the waterfront in Rockland’s South End between June 10 and 19.

All makers and artists are welcome to apply. The theme, “sitting pretty,” is intentionally vague. Seating elements and non-functional work that speak to the exhibition theme will be considered. Those with questions about the theme, or any other requirements of the show, should contact the show producers.

A reception will be held on the afternoon and evening of Friday, June 10. Sharp’s Point South’s annual Family Fun Days are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19, the final days of the show.

Those who wish to construct work on-site between June 13 and 16 may submit proposals, but completed work may be delivered at the start of the exhibition. Accepted exhibitors will pay a $100 entry fee and a commission of 25 percent of total sales made during, or as a direct result of, “Sitting Pretty; an exhibition at Sharp’s Point South.”

The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Exhibitors need not attend, but will be very welcome to “gallery sit” at any time. All pieces must be child-safe and should encourage sitting, either on, or in contemplation of, the work. No turf will be removed during installation. All work should be created in such a way as to allow installation at grade. Some leveling may be needed. Makers are responsible for all clean-up of their work.

Applications must be postmarked no later than April 20. To receive an application, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Sitting Pretty, c/o Auciello, 220 Broadway, Rockland ME 04841. For more information, call show producers Shlomit or Joe Auciello at 594-0548 or send email to
