Residents of Knox, Waldo and Washington counties older than 18 who are on a “road less traveled” and are seeking educational experiences that will change their life and the lives of people around them are invited to apply for a James and Marilyn Rockefeller Scholarship.

The application deadline for the Rockefeller Scholarship is May 15. Complete guidelines and application forms are available at mainecf.org.

The selection committee is looking for applicants who have exhibited uncommon tenacity, focus, hope and humor in the face of adversity, and/or who are pursuing a meaningful life change that requires additional education — traditional or non-traditional. Applicants should be determined to succeed, be serious about learning, and have a plan — academic and financial — to achieve their goal.

A statewide organization with offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation partners with donors and educators to provide Maine students with access to educational opportunities. The community foundation manages nearly 450 scholarship funds.
