An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials with Searsport Police Department reported the following activity between March 21 and April 3:

March 22

Jill O’Brien, 26, of Searsmont, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and possession of drug paraphernalia following an alleged hit-and-run accident on Brock Road. According to police, O’Brien was traveling along Brock Road in a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo registered to James Doak of Waldo. Police allege that O’Brien ran off the road and struck two vehicles parked in a private driveway as well as a mailbox. The vehicles O’Brien allegedly hit — a Dodge Intrepid and a Ford Focus — belonged to Richard Knox and Daniel Knox. The impact caused an estimated $2,500 worth of damage to the Dodge, another $800 in damage to the Ford, and about $1,500 worth of damage to the Monte Carlo. O’Brien then allegedly left the scene and drove to Waldo, where she was arrested later in the day. Waldo County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police assisted in the search for O’Brien.
