Auditions for a collaborative production of “Quilters” will be held Friday, April 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, April 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Camden Opera House, Elm Street/Route 1. Auditioners are asked to please prepare a short a cappella piece that shows off their vocal range.

The production is a collaboration between local quilting artists, businesses, historical and preservation societies and Camden Civic Theatre, in conjunction with the Carol Sebold HarborArts Juried Arts & Crafts Show. Mim Bird and Tom Gray will be directing this production, which will be performed at the historic Camden Opera House Friday through Sunday, July 15 through 17 at 7 p.m.

Based on the books “The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art” by Patricia Cooper and Norma Bradley Allen, “Quilters” is a musical covering themes of separation and loss, hope and redemption and the fierce struggle for survival and many forms of love. It follows seven women through events such as making the decision to move west, traveling by covered wagon, the miracle of a new windmill, the devastation of a prairie fire, the cost of unrelenting childbearing and many other important times in their lives.

Anyone who would like to get involved with this production by auditioning or lending their off-stage talents or ideas is encouraged to contact Bird at mbird@culverson.com or visit camdencivictheatre.com.
