An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 800-452-4664.

April 30

Trooper Jonathan Russell tended a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Prescription Drug Take Back Day collection station at Unity Foundation in Unity.

Troopers Bethany Couturier and Shawn Porter responded to a report of a vehicle off Morgan Pitch Road in Brooks. Nicholas Hegstrom, 26, was summoned for leaving the scene of a property-damage accident.

April 29

Trooper Russell stopped a motorist for an inspection violation on Route 202 in Troy. Scott Anderson, 20, reportedly had his license suspended for unpaid fines. Anderson was charged with operating after suspension (infraction) and released to one of his licensed passengers.

April 28

Trooper Russell received a report of a burglary at the Grange Hall on Dolloff Road in Thorndike. The investigation is ongoing.

April 27

Trooper Luke Cunningham investigated a report of a missing person in Unity. The person was located within 45 minutes.

Trooper Cunningham investigated a report of a residential burglary in Brooks. The investigation is ongoing.

Trooper Cunningham responded to a trespassing complaint on Leisure Court in Unity. No criminal charges were issued.

Troopers Elisha Fowlie and Cunningham investigated a report of vehicles mudding on the blocked portion of Webster Cemetery Road in Troy. Trooper Cunningham located one vehicle at the scene and Trooper Fowlie located another at Unity College. Parker Merritt, 18, of Norwell, Mass. and Whitney Holt, 19, of Dummer, N.H. were each charged with criminal mischief.

April 26

Trooper Couturier summoned Juanita Gardiner, 49, of Jackson, for negotiating a worthless instrument.

Trooper Cunningham responded to a trespass complaint on Hadley Mill Road in Jackson. No criminal charges were issued.

Trooper Cunningham investigated a reported theft in Unity. The property was located at school and returned to the owner the following day.

Trooper Cunningham investigated a harassment complaint in Burnham. All parties were warned for harassment.
