The Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association’s May 6 bulletin board announced that 2011 Common Ground Country Fair posters are available for purchase.

The poster, created by Dacia Klinkerch of Raymond, features “vibrant veggies – some fresh, some freshly canned.” The poster costs $10, plus shipping. Posters from past fairs are also available inside the MOFGA online Country Store at mofgastore.org.

The bulletin also announced that in celebration of MOFGA’s 40-year history, a commemorative book with approximately 100 pages and many photos, is being compiled. A summer release date is planned. MOFGA seeks photo contributions, especially from its “early years.” The bulletin indicated that all great photos of MOFGA farmers, farms, gardeners, homesteads, CGCF and public hearings from 1971 to present would be considered. To donate a photo, mail or email it to Jean English jenglish@mofga.org or 662 Slab City Road, Lincolnville, ME 04849. Submitters are asked to identify the subject and provide a date.

For a list of area farmers’ markets, check out MOFGA’s directory at mofga.net. MOFGA also has posted online the first pest report of the 2011 growing season. It focuses on seedcorn maggot, damping-off and other seedling problems, onion maggot and cabbage maggot.
