Kings Jazz, a combo featuring Midcoast musicians which has been playing the area for a few years, will present the featured concert of this year’s Festival of Art. The free performance is set for Friday, May 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center, Route 3.

Chris Rogers is the group’s founder, drummer and leader. Kings Jazz also features Lincoln Blake on keyboard, Ezra Rugg on bass and Hal Hagy on sax. Both Blake and Rugg are graduates of the University of Maine at Augusta’s music program, while Rogers and Hagy have both worked with major labels in the recording industry. All members also are part of the New England Experimental Jazz Band and all have composed and recorded their own works.

Kings Jazz is known for an improvisation style that revolves and weaves around nature. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the music.
