Average retail gasoline prices in Maine rose 1.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.97 per gallon Sunday, May 8.

The national average fell 0.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.93 per gallon, according to gasoline price website mainegasprices.com.

Prices Sunday were $1.04 per gallon higher than one year ago and 21.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average increased 19.4 cents per gallon during the last month and Sunday was 100 cents per gallon higher than one year ago.
