On Saturday, May 21, Bay Chamber Concerts will presents its 50th Anniversary Chamber Music Celebration at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St., at 7 p.m.

Performing the gala concert program will be Shmuel Ashkenasi and Joseph Silverstein on violin; Roberto Diaz on viola; Marc Johnson on cello; and Wu Han and Anastasia Antonacos  on piano.

These six favorite artists from Bay Chamber Concerts’ illustrious history will come together in an historic homecoming to perform a program that culminates in Brahms’ monumental piano quintet.

Most tickets are $25, and youth tickets for ages 18 and younger are only $8. Prime seating is $45. Discounts of up to 30 percent are available for subscribers and groups of eight or more. Founded in 1961 by brothers Andrew Wolf and Thomas Wolf, Bay Chamber is dedicated to sustaining classical music as an art form. A 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, Bay Chamber has for 50 years awarded annual prizes to young Maine musicians. Bay Chamber Community Music School offers private instruction, orchestral opportunities and other music education to local musicians and community members of all ages and abilities. Bay Chamber Concerts presents music year-round through two performance series: the Summer Music Festival during the months of July and August, featuring classical, jazz and film events in the historic Rockport Opera House and Strand Theatre in Rockland; and the Performing Arts Series from October through May, showcasing a variety of classical, jazz and world music, as well as dance events, in venues throughout Midcoast Maine.
