The eight-voice Touring Ensemble of the Maine Gay Men’s Chorus will present their concert program As Long As You Love Me Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at First Church UCC, 8 Court St. on the corner of Spring Street.

The program offers a new lineup of songs including an a cappella arrangement of Toto’s “Africa,” the brand-new “My House” (a delightful gem about first love) and Mozart’s “Ave Verum,” one of the most beautiful pieces of choral music ever written. New arrangements of several songs make use of guitar, bass, keyboard, violin and even a bright blue glockenspiel, all played by members of the ensemble.

The Touring Ensemble sings to fulfill the chorus mission of spreading the message of social acceptance and diversity. The singers desire to give back to its host audience, so the admission of a suggested donation of $10 will be split between the Touring Ensemble and the church. The group also will hold a 50/50 raffle for those who wish to participate, and MGMC’s music CDs will be available for purchase.

The Maine Gay Men’s Chorus, founded in 1992, is the state’s only gay-identified chorus. First Church is an open and affirming church where all are welcomed, and all are invited to experience a fun-filled evening of music from the heart. The church is handicapped accessible using the Court Street entrance. For more information, call 338-2282.
