Midcoast District Forester Morten Moesswilde will present “Know Your Trees: Identifying Native Species” at Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition’s monthly meeting Thursday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m., at the Belfast Free Library on High Street.

The evening is planned as a hands-on workshop. Moesswilde will bring tree samples for participants to study and identify so they will recognize these native Maine trees when walking through the woods. Light refreshments will be served at the free meeting.

Moesswilde, who serves Knox, Lincoln, Kennebec and Waldo counties, has been with the Maine State Service for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked in the area as a private consulting forester.

The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition is a group of individuals working to support conservation and stewardship of natural, scenic, historic and public access resources in the watershed through research, community-building and education.
