“Working in Belfast — Chickens and Sardines” will be the topic of the Belfast Historical Society meeting program Monday, May 23, at 7 p.m., in the Abbott Room of the Belfast Free Library on High St.

The presentation will include a slideshow of the sardine and poultry processing industries that once dominated the working waterfront and employed hundreds of workers.

Following the slideshow, Jay Davis, author and historian, will moderate a panel discussion among women who worked in the plants.

Program meetings, free and open to the public, are the fourth Monday monthly, from April through October.

Those unable to attend are invited to watch “Window On History” on BCTV-2, Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., and Saturdays at 4:30 p.m., or watch the film on the museum website belfastmuseum.org, which offers new programs each month.
