It did not matter whether playing at home or on the road, the Belfast tennis teams proved one thing Friday afternoon — namely that the Lions were better than Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B foe Medomak Valley.

The Lions defeated the Panthers in two matches about 45 miles apart, with the BAHS boys winning 5-0 in Waldoboro and the Lion girls nipping the Panthers 3-2 at home.

In recent Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, the Lion boys (3-4) were ranked seventh, with Waterville (9-0, 66.4583 points) first in the 14-team region. The Lion girls (4-4) were 11th, with Camden Hills (8-0, 66.4583 points) first in the 15-team region. The results of the Belfast-Medomak Valley matches are not included in the regional standings.

Belfast boys 5, Medomak Valley 0 … At Waldoboro, the individual results, with Panther players listed first, were: In singles, Nick Young lost to Carson Beck, 3-6, 0-6; Zach Judkins lost to Jimmy Nealey, 2-6, 6-7 (7-4 tiebreaker), 1-6; and Cal Robbins lost to Tyler Martin 3-6, 3-6.

In doubles, Conor Dahlberg and Zach Wallace lost to Wes Sterrs and Taylor Peabody, 0-6, 0-6; and Max Hinkley and Cooper Dahlberg lost to Nathan Howard and Clint Fraser, 1-6, 2-6.

Belfast girls 3, Medomak Valley 2 … At Belfast, the individual results, with Panther players listed first, were: In singles, Kelly Leidenroth lost to Shashanna Moll, 2-8; Mallory Robbins lost to Rosie LaCivita, 0-8; and Isabelle Lobley beat Makalia Gould, 8-6.

In doubles, Kaye Peabody and Bailey Black beat Sierra Warner and Krissy Martin, 8-4; and Ariele Rancourt and Danica Dever lost to Alisha Wilson and Rose Hyland, 6-8.
