Rockland District Middle School, Thomaston Grammar School/St. George, Troy Howard Middle School of Belfast and Medomak Middle School secured recent Busline League middle school baseball and/or softball wins.

Softball

On May 12 at Belfast, Troy Howard beat visiting Hope-Appleton 27-15. Mariah Sturgis allowed two hits and 17 walks, with six strikeouts pitching for the Lions.

Paige Morgridge pitched for H-A and gave up 16 walks and 10 hits, with six strikeouts.

For Troy Howard, Brean Cummings (2 singles, triple), Sturgis (3 singles), Caitlin Goslant (2 singles), Olivia Sanborn (single) and Hannah Nichols (single) led the offensive charge.

On May 12 at Thomaston, the Clippers nabbed a close win against Rockland. Paige Tyler pitched five innings for Thomaston as she gave up a hit and six walks, with 12 strikeouts. Lexi Davis finished the game and allowed four walks and registered five strikeouts.

Payton Billingsley pitched for RDMS, allowing 14 hits and a walk, with two strikeouts.

For the Clippers, Tyler (3 hits, double, RBI), Rachel Robinson (home run, 3 RBIs, hit), Davis (home run, hit, RBI), Macy Boutot (double, triple, 2 RBIs), Kasey Boutot (hit), Benner (RBI), Kayln Grover (hit, RBI), Samantha Benner (RBI), Bailey Cox (double, RBI) and Makenna Brooks (hit) contributed to the offense.

For RDMS, Emily Gould (single, 2 runs), Ari Curtis (3 runs) and Ashley Gardner (2 runs) led the pack. Jackie Thorbjornson, Bekah Hilt and Sarah Penney had a run each and Billingsley a run and RBI.

On May 11, RDMS beat Hope-Appleton 40-5. Billingsley pitched the win and Hope-Appleton’s Morgridge took the pitching loss.

For RDMS, Gould had at least two home runs and five runs and Alex Chase scored six runs. Kayla Malmstrom, Penney and Alexis Pine all talled five runs.

On May 10 at Lincolnville, the RDMS beat Lincolnville 38-0 in a 2 1/2-inning game. The Eagles had 30 walks and 20 hits until the game was ended because the field was needed for Little League.

Jennifer Carter pitched for Rockland.

On May 7 at Searsport, the RDMS beat host Searsport 22-2 in an exhibition game. Penney pitched three innings for the Eagles and allowed five walks with three strikeouts. Gardner finished the game and had two strikeouts.

For RDMS, Chelsea Williams (2 hits, double, 4 runs), Billingsley (2 walks 4 runs), Gould (hit, 2 runs), Hilt (2 hits, 2 runs), Anna Mulhearn (2 hits, run) and Malmstrom (2 walks, 2 runs) led the offensive charge.

Stone keyed Searsport with a run and a single, while Howard had a single and Tripp a run.

Baseball

On May 14, Rockland District Middle School beat the Medomak Middle School eighth-graders 6-4. The Riverhawks scored four runs in the first inning and Rockland slowly chipped away and scored two in the seventh to take the victory.

For the Riverhawks, Micah Williamson, Gavin Felch, Jamie Temple, Cortland Fischer, Tyler Emerson and Spencer Weiss all had a hit.

Williamson (13 strikeouts) pitched all seven innings for MMS.

Statistics for RDMS were not available.

On May 13, the MMS eighth-graders beat Troy Howard of Belfast 13-11 in nine innings in a game that lasted 3 1/3 hours.

For the Riverhawks, Felch (2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Williamson (3 hits, 3 runs, RBI), Temple (2 hits, run) and Makale Willis (2 runs, on base 5 times, 3 standout catches in left field) led the charge. Felch, Temple and Emerson (no hits, 9 strikeouts in 6 innings) pitched.

Statistics for Troy Howard were not available.

On May 6, the MMS eighth-graders defeated Linconlville 4-3. The Riverhawks led 4-1 entering the seventh when Lincolnville scored two runs to tighten the game.

For the Riverhawks, Williamson had a hit and run and Temple a hit, two runs and an RBI.

Felch six innings for MMS and gave up one run, two hits, two walks and struck out seven.
