The Mustang Youth Football League will be holding a community chicken barbecue Saturday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at Larrabee field in Knox. Dinner will cost $6 and include half of a chicken, pasta salad or coleslaw, roll, chips, drink and a dessert.

Waldo County members of United Bikers of Maine are also putting on a motorcycle ride that morning that will end at the barbecue in time to eat with the league. The ride registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Ridgetop Restaurant in Knox. The ride will leave Ridgetop at 10 a.m. If you have questions about the ride or to pre-register please contact Craig Brown at 322-3797. The ride is $5 per rider or $10 per rider for ride and barbecue.

Raffle tickets will be on sale before and at the event for gift certificates from local businesses for fuel, food and services as well as t-shirts, hats, blankets and other great items. Be sure to bring the family as there will be footballs, soccer balls, hula hoops and more for the kids to play with.

All proceeds benefit the Mustang Youth Football League. Also, the league will have their hats, t-shirts and other logo items for sale that day.

The Mustang Youth Football League is open to all children in grades 3-6 in all 11 towns of RSU 3. They have had three successful seasons and are proudly entering their fourth. There have been more than 100 children playing in their league over the last three years and continue to add new players each year. They are a community league run by, sponsored by and offered to the community. Join the fun and help ensure that the league continues to grow!
