Parents of Troy Howard Middle School 8th graders recently put together a free pizza, hair and makeup party that was held before the 8th grade Fancy Dance, “A Night in Paris.”

After calling every hair salon and beauty shop located in and around the Belfast area, the parents found that Marion Hughes, owner of A Cut Above, was willing to donate her time to style the girls’ hair.

Hughes worked her magic, making the girls look beautiful. She worked tirelessly, styling the girls’ hair from 4:30-7 p.m., with no breaks, in order to make sure that all of the girls needing to have their hair styled were able to so. Both the parents and girls remarked that they could not thank her enough for making the girls look so incredible.

Tina Young, a Mary Kay representative and parent of one of the 8th graders, also donated her time along with many samples for the girls to complete their full makeover. In addition to helping the girls apply their makeup, Tina gave some girls helpful tips on how to properly apply it themselves.

All involved noted that this was a wonderful event that provided a great chance for the boys and girls to have a good and memorable time.

A special thanks goes to Joann Peavey from Dead River, who kindly donated pizzas for the event. All the parents of 8th graders were very grateful and wished to thank everyone who had donated their time and merchandise for the party.
