Citizens from Brooks and beyond are invited to attend the many events taking place Saturday, May 28, in Brooks as the town’s annual Community Day celebration takes place.

A town-wide yard sale, organized by the Brooks Park Boosters, will take place beginning at 8 a.m. For a complete list of homes and organizations participating at various points throughout town, stop by Ralph’s Café.

Also, beginning at 9 a.m., the very first Brooks Village Farmers Market will take place at the Town Office. Local vendors will be selling their goods, including all the seasonal produce you’ve been waiting for, until 1 p.m. The Brooks Village Farmers Market will take place every Saturday through early October.

Other events throughout the day include train rides aboard the Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad, leaving from the Brooks Preservation Society building at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The third annual Trek Across Brooks, organized by the Brooks Congregational Church, will begin at 9 a.m. Trekkers, who may choose their own routes and distances, can begin at the Brooks/Knox town line on Route 137 or at the Varney Building, located on Route 7.

Coffee, juice, muffins, donuts, and other refreshments will be available to those participating. A $5 contribution is requested per trekker, or $10 for families of three or more. Lastly, a car wash will be held at the Brooks Fire Station to benefit the Brooks Little League.

The goal of Brooks Park Boosters is to work together to provide a safe and community-oriented environment for children and adults to come together for field sports, outdoor activities and socialization. Our aim is to foster and develop growth and civic involvement in our town.
