Camden Civic Theatre will hold auditions for a new production, “Peter Pan the Musical,” that will be produced this summer at the Camden Opera House. Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, June 5 from 1 to 4 p.m.; and Monday, June 6 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the third floor of the opera house on Elm Street/Route 1. Callbacks will be held Wednesday, June 8 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. if necessary.

“Peter Pan the Musical” is fresh from England, with a new musical score by Piers Chater Robinson that includes a big production number featuring the Pirates; and some enchanting duets between Peter and Wendy. Complete with Captain Hook, Smee, John, Michael and all the other favorite characters from Neverland, it is sure to delight children of all ages.

Scott Anthony Smith of Brooks will be making his directorial debut, fresh off his lead performance in CCT’s “Romeo & Juliet.” Joani Mitchell of Rockland will inspire with her musical direction, and exciting and enjoyable choreography will be provided by Martha McLean of Lincolnville.

Those auditioning are asked to bring a headshot and resumé; for those without a formal headshot and resume, a good snapshot plus a sheet listing previous stage, film and/or dance experience, if any, will do. Those unable to get a photo may have a basic shot taken at audition for the directors’ purposes.

No monologue need be prepared; auditioners will be reading scenes from the script either individually, in pairs or in groups. Actors should be prepared to bring sheet music for their vocal audition piece; there will be an accompanist. It should be something that shows one’s vocal range well. There are casting opportunities for both youth and adults, and the directors ask that auditioners plan to stay the full session so they can read in various combinations.

Production dates for “Peter Pan the Musical” are Aug. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21. For more information, visit
