Popular duo Tango will perform music of The Great American Songbook Saturday, June 4 beginning 7 p.m. at Amore Restaurant & Lounge, Route 1, East Belfast.

Tango is the piano/vocal duo of Kristen Burkholder, vocalist, and Martin Gottlieb, pianist. “It takes two to tango,” hence their name, and in their shows all over the Midcoast area, audiences have responded enthusiastically to the tango played out between Burkholder’s engaging and sometimes humorous delivery and Gottlieb’s sophisticated yet sweetly delivered accompaniment.

Tango specializes in songs from the years between 1920 and 1960 when most jazz standards, classic show tunes and torch songs were born. Their vast, yet carefully chosen, repertoire includes songs such as “A Foggy Day,” “Let’s Do It,” “Sentimental Journey” and “La Vie En Rose”; and composers such as Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern and Vernon Duke.
