A traditional shape note singing is held the second Monday of every month in First Church Fellowship Hall, between Church and Court streets (entrance on Spring Street). This month’s singing will run 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 13.

This form of energetic four-part unaccompanied singing dates from Colonial New England. Also known as “Sacred Harp” singing, it is open to all, at no cost, and newcomers are most welcome.

Books (“Sacred Harp” and “Northern Harmony”) are available for loan and purchase. For more information, call 594-5743.
