On Wednesday, May 25, the Belfast Rotary Club awarded $25,000 in scholarships to seven area students. The students are nominated by their schools and then go through an interview process. Last year, $23,000 in scholarships was awarded to 11 students.

Winners of the 2011 Belfast Rotary Club scholarships were, (front row, from left): Mount View’s Colby Blanchard, $4,500 Leadership Scholarship; Mount View’s Amber Gum, $1,500 Rhodes Scholarship; and Mount View’s Robert Powell, $1,500 Lawson Scholarship.

Not present at the banquet was Belfast’s Maya French, who won the $4,000 Romanow Service Scholarship.
