On June 7, Belfast Community Opportunity Program in Education — BCOPE — held their recognition night at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast. Sixteen seniors were recognized for their participation, service, and excellence exhibited throughout their BCOPE education, both in the classroom and the community.

Special guest speaker Master Sgt. David Caswell, a 1992 graduate BCOPE graduate, came “home” and offered some pearls of wisdom to the seniors.

Senior Brandi Kazarian received recognition for her achievement on the CNA exam. Brandi had the highest score in her CNA class at the Waldo County Technical Center.

Senior Kelsey Noble, who plans on attending Empire Beauty School, received the Jasmyn Lee Jackson Memorial Scholarship.

BCOPE Director Gary Skigen was surprised when it was announced that he was the winner of the Maine American Legion Educator of the Year award.
