Local musicians and dancers will converge for the second annual Asante Sana benefit dinner and show Saturday, June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Belfast, 37 Miller St.

Belly dancer Helena Melone and local African drum and dance group, Djump! are returning for the event, which benefits Expanding Opportunities and is sponsored by the church’s Social Justice Committee. Also performing will be pianist Tom Luther and percussionist Jeff Densmore, as well as jazz guitarist Madison Martin.

Locally, Expanding Opportunities manages Camp Forest, a wilderness day and expedition camp for children; and the Aina Moja Shop at The Working Art Gallery, where local artwork meets African and Peruvian artwork. Internationally, the organization administers JWHS children’s home, girl-child rescue, distance learning center and service journey projects to Kenya and Peru.

Tickets are $10, but volunteers and children will attend free. Volunteers are sought for a variety of tasks at this fun family event such as kitchen and cooking help; set up and clean up; and handling the door.
