Waterfall Arts and Belfast Dance Studio are collaborating on Global Water Dances, an international annual event to celebrate public access to water, Saturday June 25 at 5 p.m.

The event will take place at the waterfront Heritage Park with live musicians, dancers, audience participation and possible boat interaction on the water. All are welcome to attend and participate in this free performance.

Global Water Dances will occur internationally at this date and time in each location’s respective time zone. Participants include Beijing, Lima, Maui, Cairo and many more.  The Global Water Dances’ performance, Dancing for Safe Water Everywhere, offers a model of how to use participatory art to raise consciousness about environmental problems; and how to bring people together to work on solving these problems. For more information on the international performance phenomenon, visit globalwaterdances.org.

Waterfall Arts and the Belfast Dance Studio seek dancers of all levels interested in participating in the Belfast event. There will be one rehearsal, at 3 p.m. on the day of the performance, to learn the choreography. Interested dancers should contact Corinne Haynes at corinneh@gwmail.gwu.edu or call Waterfall Arts at 338-2222 for more information.
