On Saturday, June 11, the Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League, which now serves the Belfast area as well, held its annual Mutt Walk fundraiser. Participants included event organizer Laura Stupca, Camden board member Nancy Laite, CRARL staff, volunteers and several Belfast Area High School students.

The Mutt Walk started at City Park and continued down to the Belfast Co-op. Along the way, bowls of fresh water had been placed every tenth of a mile or so and at the Co-op, walkers were met with hot dogs, popcorn, lemonade, water and dog biscuits, provided by CRARL. After refreshments, the group then walked back to the park where certificates and prizes were awarded.

Lynne Rossi and her canine friend, Leo, who is owned by Percy Daley, won “Top Dog” honors for best all-around costume and for raising the most money. Both Lynne and Leo wore yellow slickers and their pack-of-two name was, “It Never Rains In Maine.”
