Live music will be big part of the annual Independence Day celebrations Saturday through Monday, July 2 through 4. The weekend kicks off 3 p.m. Saturday with the second annual Brooks Park Boosters Independence Pageant at the Marsh River Theater, Route 139/Monroe Highway.

Activities on Sunday at Community Park, Moosehead Trail Highway/Route 7, include a horse show; live music from the Marsh River Singers and the Russ Lloyd Band; a homerun derby; and children’s games and activities.

Monday’s Independence Day will include a community breakfast, a five-mile run, the town parade (10 a.m.), a horse pull, children’s events, pig scramble, chicken BBQ and a chili cook-off. Live music will be provided by the Belfast Bay Fiddlers, The Rugged and Don Nickerson and the Country Mist. The day will conclude with a fireworks celebration at 10 p.m.

The final schedule is available at businesses throughout Brooks. Gate price at the park will be $2 for those older than 12, free for those younger. Concessions will be sold on Sunday and Monday.
