Midcoast Babe Ruth League baseball regular season continues to move along at a feverish pace as the spring turns to the dog days of summer, with many local squads earning recent victories on the diamond.

Georges Valley, Camden-Rockport and Rockport Automotive each secured victories in Tuesday’s play, while Newcastle, Belfast and Rockland Café all came up on the short end of the stick that night.

The following is a recap of recently reported results.

Georges Valley 16, Newcastle 14 … At Bristol June 21, Georges Valley had a tremendous offensive outburst in the sixth inning to the tune of eight runs and held on for a thrilling two-run victory.

For Georges Valley, Nick Judge (2 singles), Scott Strong (single) and Dylan Gamage (single) were among the hitters, while Caleb Jacob and Nick Judge had three RBIs each; Scott Strong and Nick Davis, both two; and Jimmy Strong, Ben Oakes-Boynton, Gamage, Sloane Smith and Andrew King, each one.

Leading Newcastle at the plate were Matt Bolster (2 singles), Jared McLain (3 singles), Brett Cowen (2 singles, home run), Luke Bickford (2 singles, double), Tyler Cheney (single, double) and Tyler Stevens (2 singles).

Jacob, Judge and Jimmy Strong combined to allow 16 hits and six walks, while striking out four batters. Bolster, Stevens and Bickford combined to allow five hits and 17 walks, while striking out seven.

Trailing 14-8 in the sixth inning, Georges Valley benefited from a fielder’s choice from Judge, while Scott Strong and Gamage came through with back-to-back RBI-singles. A run-scoring error and bases-loaded walks to Nick Davis and Jimmy Strong tied the score 14-14, while Judge rapped a two-run single to give the visitors the lead.

Camden-Rockport 10, Belfast 6 … At Rockport June 21, Camden-Rockport broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with a four-run frame and held Belfast scoreless in the seventh for the team’s fourth win of the year.

Leading Camden-Rockport at the plate were Kienan Brown (double, single, run, 2 RBIs), John Hall (double, single), Andrew Hall (single, run, 2 RBIs), Merrill Hall (single, 3 runs), Aubrey Pennington (single, 2 runs), Ben Rollins (single, run, RBI), Jake Davee (single, RBI), Henry Laurita (single, run), Cam Lafleche (2 RBIs), Teddy Laurita (RBI) and Connor Graffam (run).

Andrew Hall threw six innings for Camden-Rockport, while Ben Rollins tossed an inning of scoreless relief. Zach Collier went the distance for Belfast.

Rockport Automotive 11, Rockland Café 1 (5 inns.) … At Rockland June 21, the visitors knocked in five runs in the second inning and put the game out of reach with a six-run fifth en route to a mercy-rule shortened victory.

Leading Rockport Automotive were Chandler Crans (2 doubles, 2 RBIs, run), Kyle Crans (single, RBI, run), Sean Pierce (single, 2 RBIs, run), Cailan Schecter (single, double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Sam Gimlewicz (single, run), Nate Pascal (single, run), Brandon Benson (single, RBI) and Julian Starbird (single, 2 RBIs, 2 runs).

Caleb McFarland went the distance for the visitors, allowing three hits and two walks, while fanning 11 batters in the victory.

Wiscasset Ford 14, Union 0 … At Waldoboro June 21, the hosts could not hold back the high-octane Wiscasset Ford offense and were shut out by the visitors.

Chandler Longfellow (double), Goran Johanson (double), Cody Graves (single), Daren Wood (single), Travis Padilla (single), Mike Stewart (single) led the offense for Wiscasset Ford, while Cochran had two singles for Union and J. York added a base hit.

Padilla, Wood and Stewart combined for the three-hit shutout on the hill for Wiscasset Ford.

Wiscasset Ford 9, Damariscotta 1 … At Damariscotta June 19, the visitors rolled to a convincing victory in game one of the day’s doubleheader.

Eddie Stewart (triple, single), Cody Graves (3 singles) and Padilla (2 singles) paced Wiscasset Ford, while Spencer Alden (single) and Alex Tomasillo (single) led the hosts.

Steward gave up one hit over four innings on the mound for Wiscasset Ford, while Wood gave up two hits and one run to close out the game. Spencer Alden pitched for Damariscotta.

Wiscasset Ford 14, Damariscotta 2 (6 inns.) … At Damariscotta June 19, the visitors made it a sweep over the hosts as they took both games of the doubleheader.

Longfellow (double, 2 singles), Stewart (2 singles), Padilla (2 singles), Graves (single) and Mike Sprague (triple) led Wiscasset Ford at the plate, while Alden (single) and A.J.Oliver (single) keyed Damariscotta.

Graves allowed two hits through five innings of work for Wiscasset Ford, while Padilla tossed one inning of relief to close the game. Oliver took the loss on the hill for Damariscotta.
