Camp Forest recently received a grant for $1,000 from the Maine Community Foundation to provide staff training.

Maine Community Foundation partners with non-profits to strengthen Maine communities, according to a press release from Camp Forest. Maine Community Foundation has offices in Ellsworth and Portland and can be found on the web at

Camp Forest staff will receive training in archery, lifeguard skills, wilderness first aid, CPR and more. According to the press release, Camp Forest staff are trained in wilderness skills but some lack state-mandated certifications.

With this grant from the Maine Community Foundation, there will be at least two staff members with each of the certifications required by the state. Camp Forest staff are all Waldo County residents and will be prepared to assist both at Camp and in the community.
