The church families of the Searsport United Methodist Church and North Searsport United Methodist Church would like to invite the public to join in their annual celebrations of the Fourth of July.

Sunday, July 3

The Second annual Patriotic Hymn Sing, a joint worship experience outside the Searsport United Methodist Church, will be held at 10 a.m., under the Auction tent. There will be a “musical sermon,” combining some favorite patriotic hymns along with sharing the stories behind some of these beloved hymns. For those who do not feel comfortable with the outdoor festivities, there will be an abbreviated worship service at the North Searsport Church at its usual time of 8:45 a.m.

Monday, July 4

Monday, July 4, is the annual Field Day event, which coincides with the events sponsored by the town of Searsport. The Z.A. Circle women’s group will be selling their crafts inside the Fellowship Hall, and the “new-and-improved” lunch wagon will be offering food for sale. There will also be additional food tables offering treats to take home. There will be a live auction, which consists of donated items from both residents and area businesses. Kids games will be available on the lawn next to the Veterans Memorial Park, and a dunk tank will be featured for the first time, so you can dunk the pastor and other notable dignitaries from the town of Searsport. All this starts at 9 a.m., and all proceeds go to support the ministries of both churches.
