Valerie Bowen, originally from Belfast, has published a novel she has set in Camden. “For the Sake of Amelia — Tormented” is available in digital format on the Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites and via smashwords.com (search Valerie Bowen).

The book story’s follows abused wife Amelia as she flees the only home she has ever known to find peace and true love in Camden. Her past catches up to her, however, and jeopardizes her safety and search for happiness.

After Bowen’s parents divorced, her mother moved the family to Connecticut. Bowen has always had a strong desire to return to her roots and the family she was torn from at an early age and wrote the three-part “For the Sake of Amelia” series after reminiscing of the happier times in life. Given her fond memories and peaceful feeling about Midcoast Maine, she decided Camden would be a perfect place for her character to regain the strength so brutally stolen from her.
