The Maine Pro Musica Orchestra, in partnership with Rockland’s Strand Theatre, Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater and Ellsworth’s Grand Auditorium, will perform at each theater over three nights: Tuesday, July 19 at the Strand; Wednesday, July 20 at the Lincoln; and Thursday, July 21 at the Grand.

The concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for students. Sponsors for the tour are The First and The Libra Foundation.

Maine Pro Music is under the direction of Janna Hymes, who has put together an inspired program that pairs Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” with the fiery “Four Seasons,” based on the Vivaldi. by Argentinean tango composer Astor Piazzolla. Violin virtuoso Irina Muresanu will be the featured soloist for these exciting performances. Music by Tchaikovsky and Puccini will round out the program.

The MPM Orchestra, which consists of professional musicians from all over Maine, is the creation of Hymes, who lives in Rockport. They have played together under her direction for the past three years, drawing rave reviews from Midcoast audiences. Hymes also is music director of the Williamsburg Virginia Symphonia, now in her eighth season, and has been credited with transforming the Symphonia into an accomplished chamber-styled orchestra.

Hymes, a Fulbright Scholar, studied under Leonard Bernstein and has been a guest conductor of some of the world’s leading orchestras. She is passionate about assisting young students and in May led the Maine All State Orchestra in a lively program of Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and Bernstein.
