The Searsport Historical Society is pleased to announce that the display for the weekend of July 16-17 will be World Fair memorabilia from 1851 to 1982.

The best way to showcase new inventions and products was at the World Fair, starting in London in 1851. Fairs were held in France and North America until the 1980s. This display has many items such as maps, souvenirs, tickets, tokens, coins, books, etc. Some of the greatest fairs were the 1876 Philadelphia Fair, the 1889 Paris Fair, 1892-1893 Chicago Fair, the 1904 St. Louis Fair, and the 1939-40 New York Fair.

This will be a terrific display held at the Crary/Carlon/Coleman House, headquarters of the Searsport Historical Society located on the Sears Island Road, on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday, July 17 from 1-4 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public and there is no admission charged.
