Thorndike Historical Society was organized July 10, 1991 with 10 members. Over the years the group has erected landmark road signs, bought a replica of the Boston Post cane to present to the oldest citizen, interviewed senior citizens, gathered and preserved history of the town, and were caretakers of the old hearse from 1995 to 2009.

On Saturday, July 23, the group will celebrate its 20th anniversary at the Thorndike Auction Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be demonstrations by local craftspeople, speakers, exhibits and entertainment by Dale Hustus. Several other local societies have been invited to set up displays. Refreshments will be on sale.

Everyone is invited to come and learn about their history. Admission is free.
