City Drawers has opened for business at 105 Main St. in Belfast.

According to a press release from the business, this means that people can no longer say that it is impossible to find underwear in Belfast.

In a recently renovated storefront in a hopping Belfast block, City Drawers has added some color and flair while still respecting the building’s historic roots. The tin ceiling and wood floor were preserved and front window updated.

“Seeing the resulting transformation is worth the visit,” said proprietor Dee Bielenberg, in the press release.

The store carries much more than just underwear. When visitors step inside, the first display to greet them is one of comfortable jeans. Jeans — well, they’re not exactly underwear, but the brand is called SecondYogaJeans and it goes with the small line of yogawear also in the store. While people might not actually do yoga in these, they could, the press release states. The front of the store also holds seasonal merchandise.

City Drawers is not just a women’s lingerie store, according to the press release. In a direct line from the front door is the men’s “department,” which offers a variety of styles and fabrications: cotton, silk, bamboo, wool and high-performance underwear for sports. There are slips, briefs, trunks, boxer briefs and boxers, too.

Children are covered, too, according to the press release, with five lines offered, from basic Hanes to a German organic cotton line and lots of fun in between.

Sleepwear can be found in the middle of the store. There are socks for men, women and children. In the bathing suit department there are bikinis, active sporty styles, and one-pieces for a more mature customer.

There are two lines of shapewear for women, for that special outfit. According to the press release, there is none for men (yet), but if a demand is demonstrated, it could be added. The store also offers jewelry and perfume.

Lastly, the press release reports, there are all sorts of bras — sport bras, training bras, junior styles, lower-moderate priced bras, plus sizes, nursing bras, bras as part of matching sets and special-occasion strapless. The list will continue to grow, according to the press release.

Hours are shaping up to be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the press release, although the store may be open later if there’s something going on downtown.

The store phone is 338-9980; but more information can be found online, too. Visit and to keep up with current happenings.
