Students from Waldo County were among those named to the dean’s list at Colby College in Waterville for their outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2010-11 year:

• Ryan D. Trafton, a member of the Class of 2012, is the son of Anthony Trafton of Murrieta, Calif., and Steven Oleksyk of Frankfort, and is majoring in psychology at Colby. Trafton attended John Bapst Memorial High School.

• Mariah S. Smith, a member of the Class of 2013, is the daughter of Daniel and Susan Smith of Northport, and is majoring in psychology with a neuroscience concentration at Colby. Smith attended Belfast Area High School.

• Ben J. Guido, a member of the Class of 2014, is the son of Mark Guido of Montville, and Jessica Jacobson of Lee, and is majoring in biology at Colby. Guido attended Lee Academy.

Students whose grade-point averages were 3.68 or higher were named to the Dean’s List.

Founded in 1813, Colby College is the 12th-oldest independent liberal arts college in the nation. Colby provides an academic program that fosters transformational relationships between students and faculty, according to a press release from the college, and graduates emerge as leaders ready to make an impact on their world. The college enrolls 1,850 students.
