The annual Maine Lobster Festival 10-Kilometer Road Race will take off Sunday, Aug. 7 at 8:30 a.m., with the twist of a 5-kilometer walk added to the popular event.
The 10K race, which is 6.2 miles, and the 5K walk, which is 3.1 miles, begin at 8:30 a.m. The walk will not be timed.
Participants can be preregister online at active.com or MaineLobsterFestival.com.
The entry fee is $15 for preregistration and $18 the day of the race.
New this year for the 10K run is a barefoot runners division. Awards will go to the top male and female barefoot runner (defined as totally barefoot ).
Registration for the race/walk will be Saturday, Aug. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the festival grounds and the morning of the race/walk beginning at 7 a.m. at Harbor Park.
There also will be a one-mile children’s fun run down Main Street, with registration beginning on Sunday, at Aug. 7 at 7 a.m. The registration fee is $5. The fun run, which takes off at 7:30 a.m., is sponsored by TD Bank.
