The Monday Night Series will present a concert by Canadian pop/folk duo Dala Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in the main hall of the Islesboro Community Center, 103 Pendleton Point Road.

Drawing upon influences like The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Bob Dylan, Dala writes songs that are both catchy and insightful. Amanda Walther’s ethereal soprano voice blends seamlessly with Sheila Carabine’s velvety alto, creating the lush harmonies that have become the duo’s trademark, along with a sheer joy in performing.

No strangers to the festival scene, they have made recent appearances at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Edmonton Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and California’s Strawberry Festival. Last summer, their special “Girls From The North Country” (also the title of their latest CD/DVD) was broadcast on PBS television.
