AUGUSTA — Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following recent incidents in Waldo County. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 1-800-452-4664.

July 25

Trooper Bethany Couturier stopped Kelly Pileski, 31, on Route 1A in Frankfort for a vehicle defect. Pileski’s license was determined to be under suspension, and she was summoned for the offense. Pileski’s passenger, 35-year-old Justin Fulcher, was arrested on a warrant and taken to Waldo County Jail.

July 26

Trooper Corey Smith arrested Jessica Johnson, 25, of Stockton Springs for burglary as a result of his investigation into the break-in at Just Barb’s restaurant on Route 1 in Stockton Springs. Trooper Smith charged her with burglary and theft.

Trooper Couturier responded to Cross Road in Swanville for a reported assault. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office in Belfast for review.

Trooper Donald Webber stopped Ruben Delaguila, 40, of Montville on Route 52 in Belfast. Trooper Webber determined that Delaguila had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court. Delaguila was arrested and taken to the Waldo County Jail.

July 27

Trooper Jonathan Russell recovered a dirt bike that had been reported stolen from New England Road in Searsmont a week prior. Justin Clark, 21, of Searsmont was charged with theft by unauthorized taking (Class C).

July 28

Trooper Smith spoke to a complainant in Winterport regarding a telephone scam. She reported someone called her to offer a free blood sugar monitor from Medicare; the only thing they needed was her date of birth. Trooper Smith advised her to flag her accounts with the three credit reporting agencies, in an effort to prevent identity theft.

Trooper Smith investigated a suspicious vehicle complaint in Morrill. A resident on Main Street reported a vehicle operated by a male had parked across the road from her residence during the early morning hours over the last three days. She said the man did not leave the car during the time he loitered there, and he would leave at about the same time each day. Trooper Smith made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, and learned he was a volunteer driver for Waldo County Public Transportation and he was arriving early for a pickup in the area.

Trooper Smith responded to Monroe Road in Winterport for a suspicious event. No criminal behavior was found.

Trooper Ryan Brockway was traveling on Route 3 in Morrill when he observed two vehicles traveling toward him at 109 miles per hour. Trooper Brockway turned on the vehicles and was able to get one of the vehicles stopped. The driver of the 1993 Ford Crown Victoria was identified as Gene Stimpson, 48. Stimpson stated he had just passed the other vehicle because the driver of the other vehicle kept pumping his brakes. Stimpson said he did not know the other driver. Stimpson was issued a summons for exceeding the speed limit by 30 miles per hour or more.

July 29

Trooper Shawn Porter responded to the parking lot of Swan Lake Grocery in Swanville for a motor vehicle crash. Upon his arrival, he made contact with the driver, 22-year-old Anthony Gilmore. Gilmore was arrested for OUI.

Trooper Porter located Keith Childs, 47, on Level Hill Road in Palermo. Childs had an active warrant for his arrest and was arrested.

Trooper Porter and his certified K-9 partner Tex assisted the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office with a bank robbery on School Street in Unity. Tex located a track that went to a nearby apartment complex’s parking lot. No suspects were located.

Trooper Couturier handled a phone harassment complaint in Prospect. Both parties were told not to call or text each other anymore.

Trooper Russell responded to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield after an intoxicated patient claimed she had been involved in an accident on Meadow Road in Winterport the previous evening. Sharon Burchfield, 48, informed Trooper Russell that she had not reported the crash because she did not think it was a big deal, as she claimed there was minimal damage to her vehicle and surrounding property. The vehicle she was driving, according to police, was a total loss as it had gone over an embankment and struck several trees. Burchfield was charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

July 31

Trooper Smith responded to East Lakewood Lane in Swanville for a landlord/tenant issue. The issue is civil in nature and will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

Trooper Couturier responded to a reported verbal domestic on Route 1 in Stockton Springs. Carrie Ward, 41, was arrested for domestic violence assault and brought to Waldo County Jail, where she later made bail.
