The sixth annual Winterport Music Festival ran all day Aug. 6 in the town’s Abbott Park, offering a wide range of tunes from eight groups as well as community booths of food and crafts, a children’s area, beer garden and more.

Attendance was down a little, but those who came stayed longer rather than pop in and out, said producer and Town Manager Phil Pitula, who guessed the headcount to be about 825. The festival’s final set by Martha’s Vineyard’s Johnny Hoy & the Bluefish, however, set a new record for the community event.

“That was the most people dancing at the same time we’ve ever had,” Pitula said.

Proceeds from the festival will go towards a scholarship fund for local students who plan to study the arts at the college level.
