It was July 1999 and Marvin Jacobs was the No. 1 gallery in downtown Belfast. In fact, there were no other galleries. Then Lou Masciovecchio and Celene Farris opened one at 65 Main St.

“We were practically children when we opened The Working Art Gallery at the end of the last century … seems like last year,” said Masciovecchio.

Everyone is invited to visit the two-floor gallery “before we get any older,” he added, and see Maine through the eyes of dozens of Maine artists. Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all year. For more information, call 338-4820 or visit theworkingartgallery.com.
