A tree that reportedly fell onto a utility pole on Atlantic Highway (Route 1) in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 16 is being blamed for a two-hour power outage that affected more than 2,600 Central Maine Power customers.

CMP spokeswoman Gail Rice said the power outage started at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday, when the tree fell onto the utility pole. Power was restored at 3:05 a.m., Rice said.

A total of 2,655 CMP customers lost power, Rice said, with outages being reported in Islesboro, Lincolnville, Northport and Searsmont.
