The downtown Galerie Dufour will host a reception celebrating its eight anniversary during the weekly Belfast Art Walk Friday, Aug. 26. The current exhibition on display at the gallery, 94 Main St., is called “Dreams and Dreamers.”

Originally named Indigo Gallery, Galerie Dufour opened its doors on the final Friday of August in 2003. Having won a number of awards over the years, Dufour’s photographs primarily feature Maine landscapes and seascapes; and a majority of them include nude forms.  Galerie Dufour is home to the largest collection of printed and matted natural fine art figure photography by a single artist in the entire state of Maine and perhaps in the northeastern United States.

“I know of a few dozen true photographic artists around the country who specialize in nudes, but very few of them print their work regularly, let alone mat, frame and exhibit them in art galleries,” said Dufour.

In addition to exhibiting his work in Belfast, Dufour is one of the artists exhibiting at Art Space Gallery in Rockland. His work has appeared in group and solo exhibitions in New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania in the last few years. Of late, Dufour’s natural fine art nudes have earned nominations and awards at the annual Maine Photography Show, the Lewiston/Auburn Arts photography show “Through the Lens” and the Photography Masters Cup fourth annual International Color Awards.

Galerie Dufour’s eight anniversary reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at approximately 8 p.m. Ample examples of Dufour’s artwork can be found at
