The Searsport Pines Golf Course has been a busy place, of late, what with the club’s annual member-guest tournament Aug. 13 and the announcement of the winner of a free 2012 membership.

Richard Wagenknect and his guest, Matt Small, finished first in the member-guest tourney Aug. 13. The duo shot 67 in the two-person scramble format. Bob Seekins and his guest, George Miller, placed second at 69.

Pin winners were:  Peter Laveway, 22-4 on the sixth hole; Chris Devlin, 6-10 on the ninth; Ken Gardiner, 34-7 on the 15th; and Bruce Mills, 7-10 on the 18th.

Additionally, Kevin Whalen of Searsport was the winner of a free membership for the 2012 season. His name was drawn Aug. 13 at the member-guest tourney. Whalen will enjoy a free year of golf in 2012, compliments of Searsport Pines.

Every year at the club’s member/guest event a free membership is given to a current member. Six free memberships have been awarded thus far.

Any new member joining the club by the end of September can play in October 2011 free as part of their 2012 membership. Only a half down deposit is required, with the balance not due until July 1, 2012. Golfers may make regular payments or wait until July 1, 2012 to make the final payment.

There will be no increase in membership fees for the 2012 season.
