On Friday, Sept. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m., the Belfast Co-op will host a free monthly wine tasting of highlighted seasonal wines, gourmet cheeses and crackers and the opening of Megan Marsanskis’ “Egypt” exhibit of her photographs. Jack Scully of Easterly Wine and Co-op wine manager Ron Poirier will be available to answer questions. Featured wines are 10 percent off during the tasting; attendees must be 21-years-old or older.

“Egypt” will be on display in the Co-op’s Cafe Gallery for the month of September. Marsanskis’ desire to see the pyramids of Egypt began at age 8 on a trip to see the ancient Egyptian exhibit at the Boston Museum of Art. Last year, she spent two weeks in Egypt, fulfilling her lifelong dream and capturing scenes of both ancient and modern-day Egypt. She has been taking photographs since high school with a 35mm Nikon camera passed on to her by her mother, who received her first camera from her father. All photographs are taken with Ilford HP5+ 35mm film and printed in a darkroom on Ilford Pearl RC paper.

The Belfast Co-op, open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., is located downtown at 123 High St. For more information, call 338-2532 or visit belfast.coop.
