The Maine State Special Olympics was held Aug. 24 at the Midcoast Recreation Center as more than 40 athletes competed in individual tennis skills.

Brandi Place of Belfast, who trains in the Tennis For Fun program, scored 200 points in the top division.

Tennis For Fun is a free tennis clinic for special needs athletes. The clinic is held at the City Park in Belfast Fridays from 3 to 4 p.m.
