Aboriginal art collected by Maine native Douglas Banks during his many years in Australia, is on display during the month of September at the Liberty Library.

The aborigines passed along traditions of religion, rites and food through centuries of artistic representation. These contemporary aboriginal artists continue these traditions. A guidebook is available to help viewers understand the symbols in the art and to learn about the artists.

For the library’s open hours, call 589-3161.
