Galerie Dufour, 94 Main St., will open “Styx and Stones,” a photography exhibition featuring stones, sticks and the human figure, with a 5:30 to 8 p.m. reception Friday, Sept. 9. The show will run through Oct. 6.

Photographer Charles Laurier Dufour explained that in fine art natural nudes, the image consists of a natural background that serves as the canvas; and a human figure that serves to enhance and complete the composition.

“In ‘Styx and Stones,’ I’ve reversed the roles. The human form is used as the canvas and other natural elements, the sticks and stones, enhance and complete the composition,” he said.

Both color and monochromatic works were created for this exhibition of recent works. To accommodate customers’ space considerations, the images chosen for the exhibition range in size from frames that measure 20-to-24 inches down to 8-by-10 inch matted prints.
