Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County during the past week. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 1-800-452-4664.

Aug. 16

Trooper Jonah O’Roak summoned Ray Miner, 25, for Class C felony theft. This is a result of an investigation into a large amount of scrap metal being stolen.

Aug. 17

Trooper O’Roak summoned Jed Hotham, 29, of Albion for failure to notify the owner of another vehicle involved in a property-damage accident. Hotham, according to police, had crashed into a truck in a parking lot across from Unity House of Pizza on Aug. 13.

Trooper Shawn Porter stopped Ryan Raven, 19, on Route 220 for a loud exhaust. Raven was summoned for OUI, operating beyond restrictions, having no proof of insurance and an expired inspection.

Trooper Jonathan Russell stopped a vehicle on Whitaker Road in Troy for an inspection violation. Trooper Russell identified a passenger in the vehicle as Scott Clark, 23, of Pittsfield. Investigation revealed Clark had an active warrant for his arrest. Clark was arrested and taken to Waldo County Jail without incident.

Aug. 18

Trooper Corey Smith received a report of two stolen chain saws from a resident on Village Road in Jackson. The investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 19

Trooper James Leonard assisted the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office on North Palermo Road in Palermo during a motor vehicle crash that involved an intoxicated operator who was being non-compliant. The subject was arrested, without incident, for OUI by Waldo deputies.

Trooper Bethany Couturier stopped Camron Mitchell, 28, of Lewiston for speeding and suspicious activity on East Thorndike Road in Thorndike. Mitchell was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and reportedly refused standard field sobriety tests. Mitchell was arrested and taken to Waldo County Jail, where he was summoned for operating under the influence of alcohol and operating after license suspension.

Troopers Patrick Hood and Elisha Fowlie responded to Palmer Road in Thorndike for a suspected marijuana growing operation. Their investigation revealed 11 mature marijuana plants were growing in back of the residence. David Bernosky, 41, was charged with cultivating marijuana and released.

Trooper Fowlie investigated a criminal mischief complaint on Route 139 in Brooks. The complainant reported someone had cut her extension cord to her lawnmower. The investigation continues.

Trooper Fowlie stopped a car on Route 220 in Thorndike for a loud exhaust. Upon a consent search, Trooper Fowlie located a marijuana pipe that belonged to the passenger, 22-year-old Amber Jewett. Jewett was summoned for possession of marijuana.

Aug. 20

Trooper Fowlie stopped a car on Route 7 in Brooks for a loud exhaust. The driver was identified as Jeffrey Aubin, 41. Trooper Fowlie learned that Aubin’s registration was illegally attached and he was summoned for the offense.

Tooper Hood stopped David Patterson, 20, of Greenbush on Route 3 in Belmont for a traffic violation. Investigation revealed Patterson had a warrant out of Penobscot County. He was arrested and then taken to Waldo County Jail for processing.

Trooper Russell initiated a theft investigation on Mount View Road in Thorndike. The investigation is ongoing.

Trooper Smith charged Catherine Lepage, 38, with assault after an investigation revealed she allegedly slapped and spit upon her landlord on Lakewood Lane in Swanville. Raymond Schaller, 51, was charged with driving to endanger after he reportedly swerved in front of Lepage’s vehicle and blocked her egress on East Lakewood Lane.

Aug. 21

Trooper Russell was conducting an investigation on South Horseback Road in Burnham when a vehicle passed his location at a high rate of speed. Trooper Russell returned to his vehicle and caught up to the offending vehicle on Winnecook Road in Burnham. Contact was made with the operator Dennis Moody, age 21, of Pittsfield and it was determined his license was currently suspended. Moody was charged with operating after license suspension and released to a licensed operator.

Trooper Russell located a red BMW traveling on North Dixmont Road in Troy with no license plates. Trooper Russell stopped the vehicle and made contact with the operator, 32-year-old Paul Taliaferro of Troy. Taliaferro told police he had just completed some vehicle maintenance and was out test driving the vehicle to make sure it was now working properly. Taliaferro had never registered the vehicle since owning it and was charged with Class E operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Aug. 22

Trooper O’Roak stopped a vehicle on Route 141 in Monroe. The operator — Jessica Bryden, 18, of Bangor — was summoned for violation of instruction permit along with unlawful possession of certain synthetic hallucinogenic drugs. Trooper Russell assisted.

Trooper Couturier investigated a criminal trespass complaint in Swanville. The suspect was issued a warning.

Trooper Donald Webber and Trooper Couturier responded to Route 1 in Stockton Springs to a report of a two-vehicle crash with property damage. Troopers arrived and located Russell Warriner, 32, of Newburgh, who had been operating on the wrong side of the road, causing him to crash into a male and female from Rhode Island. Warriner was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs.

Aug. 23

Trooper Russell recovered a stolen dirt bike that he had begun investigating the previous week. Matthew Hubbard, 31, and Bonnie Lauren Tevepaugh, 29, both from Unity, were charged with receiving stolen property and the bike was returned to the owner.

Aug. 24

Trooper Couturier responded to Tyler’s Garage in Winterport in reference to stolen metals from the business. Investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 25

Trooper Webber responded to Just Barb’s Restaurant in Stockton Springs to a report of a burglary. Trooper Webber, through investigation, was able to identify the suspect as Peter Richardson, 50, of Stockton Springs. A short time later, Trooper Webber located Richardson hitchhiking on Route 1 in Searsport. Richardson was arrested and taken to Waldo County Jail and charged with theft, burglary, criminal mischief, and violation of bail, as well as criminal trespass.

Troopers Fowlie, Hood and Sweeney responded to Oak Hill Road in Swanville for a report of an intoxicated male in the woods with a knife and a handgun threatening to kill the complainant. Tyler Damon, 19, was arrested on a probation violation and charged with terrorizing and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Aug. 27

Trooper Christopher Rogers stopped Samantha Bark, 20, on Route 1 in Belfast for a loud exhaust. Investigation revealed her license was under suspension for insurance reasons. Bark was summoned for operating after suspension and failure to provide current insurance.

Trooper Russell came across a domestic dispute on the edge of Troy Road in Burnham. No charges were filed.

Trooper Fowlie stopped a car on Route 1 in Belfast for a loud exhaust. The operator was identified as Joel Weston, 25, and the passenger was identified as Patrick Daley, 24. A consent search assisted by Trooper Rogers revealed three separate containers of marijuana belonging to both subjects. Weston and Daley were both issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

Trooper Fowlie investigated a car that was keyed on Water Street in Winterport. The complainant reported his Nissan Maxima was keyed in his driveway. The investigation continues.

Trooper Webber stopped Joshua Cunningham, 24, of Brooks on Route 141 in Swanville for speeding (67 mph in a 45 mph zone). Trooper Webber determined Cunningham had been drinking and his license was suspended. Trooper Webber also located marijuana in the vehicle. Cunningham was charged with OUI, operating after suspension, possession of marijuana and speeding.
