Searsport Fire Chief Jim Dittmeier will deliver the Searsport Historical Society’s September program, “History of the Searsport Fire Department,” on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. in Curtis Hall on Church Street.

Dittmeier will tell of his background and how he came to settle in this “quaint little Midcoast village” and became involved in the Department which has a long and deeply interesting history.

Also sharing their experiences and pieces of history are past and present members of the Fire Department: John Merrithew, Frank Whiting and Jack Merrithew. Other currently active Department members, and the “Old Timers,” too, are most cordially invited to attend and tell their stories and other bits and pieces they may have heard from generations long gone.

A social period will follow with friendly conversation and refreshments. As always, the public is welcome to attend.
